In our busy everyday lives, juggling between lives at work and home, we tend to overlook ourselves — our strengths, our callings, and our success stories. Our purpose of sharing this information with you beforehand is so that you understand our objectives from the very start and so that we are all on the same page, working towards the same goals.

A shared goal

At 1 Finance, we’re all in it together, doing work that has a common purpose. It’s like being in a rowboat. Imagine each one of us has an oar in our hands. If any of us start to row slower, or stop, or — even worse — start to row in the opposite direction, the entire boat (or in this case, our whole organisation) slows down or gets negatively affected. This means that the speed of the boat needs to be protected and, wherever necessary, increased. If you are joining us, you will be one of the members rowing our boat with us and have a chance to create something that is truly valuable.

While laying the foundation for 1 Finance, we’ve established certain values and operating principles that become the guiding compass on our journey. We hope to build an institution where…

Where a client doesn’t feel that they are or will ever be cheated or misguided because the advisor is chasing targets.

Where employees don’t have a constant anxiety to prove themselves and feel under threat of being disposed off at the whims and fancies of management.

Where partners do not have to keep negotiating before rendering every service, and believe that if an institution grows, they will too.

Where shareholders look forward to sharing gains with the people responsible for generating them.

Where a client doesn’t feel that they are or will ever be cheated or misguided because the advisor is chasing targets.

Where employees don’t have a constant anxiety to prove themselves and feel under threat of being disposed off at the whims and fancies of management.

Where partners do not have to keep negotiating before rendering every service, and believe that if an institution grows, they will too.

Notes before you apply

While most of us use the same resume for all the jobs we apply to, we’d like you to hold on before sending your go-to resume to us. Consider the job that you’re applying to with us — and rework your resume with that perspective in mind. You may follow the steps below to put together your resume:

Align yourself with our requirements. Share relevant experience, and the outcomes of your work in those roles.

Try and quantify the same wherever possible.

If you have managed a team, share details about that team.

Add links to projects, research, assignments completed.

Feel free to tell us who you are and what’s important to you — your hobbies, your personal goals.

Keep it short and precise. Leave the details for the interview.

Align yourself with our requirements. Share relevant experience, and the outcomes of your work in those roles.

Try and quantify the same wherever possible.

If you have managed a team, share details about that team.

Add links to projects, research, assignments completed.

Feel free to tell us who you are and what’s important to you — your hobbies, your personal goals.

If you do choose to rework your resume — which we would really appreciate — remember that honesty is our key value. Don’t try to force-fit your experience to match the job description and our requirements. If you have already shared your resume with us, you may follow up on the same ID (listed above) so that we know that you have gone through the entire process and are ready to take it on from here.

When we review your resume, there could be two outcomes:

Where we call you for an interview.

Where we feel that you don’t fit our current requirement. Don’t let that stop you from exploring other profiles or trying a few months later.

The next stage

If you’ve been shortlisted and have heard from us, we have liked your resume. While the following interview process may differ slightly for different roles or teams, the same basics apply, irrespective of the role and team. Some of the ways in which we assess candidates are as follows:

Expect one or two sets of interactions with the hiring team so that they are able to assess the key skills you’ll need for the role.

You may be asked to submit an online assignment, such as coming up with a solution for a problem statement, content writing on a given topic, and so on, depending on the role you are applying for. If the assignment needs you to spend money, we will of course reimburse you for the expenditure.

While we call them ‘interviews’ for the sake of convenience, these will be more like interactions that you will have with one (or more) of our team leaders, including our founders.

There could be more than one round of interviews, but we assure you that they will be friendly, warm, and not intimidating, so that you have the opportunity to get to know us better too. Do come along with your questions for us too. The interview will be scheduled as per your and the interviewer's availability.

The initial screening interactions will take place over the phone or on video call, irrespective of your location.

For the in-depth interviews, if you are based out of Mumbai, we would prefer a face-to-face interview. If, for any reason, you are unable to come into our offices, we may proceed with a video call.

If you are based outside of Mumbai, the first set of interviews can happen online. If you get through this round, we may call you to our Mumbai office for a face-to-face interview. In this scenario, we will take care of your travel and stay arrangements and ensure that you have a good visit.

Our offer

Once all the rounds are done, we will thoroughly evaluate your application. In either case, whether you’re selected or not, you will hear from us.

If you are selected, our hiring team will discuss the offer with you, along with the compensation, position, benefits, joining date, etc. If you accept this final offer, we will be wholeheartedly ready to welcome you to the 1 Finance team.
